Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

James Floss One Night Only

When: Sat., May 28, 8 p.m. 2016

Local theater artist James Floss will present a one-man show for his niece on Saturday night, May 28, at 8pm the Humboldt Light Opera Company performance space in the Sunny Brae shopping center called The SPACE. While admission is free, donations will be accepted for Food for People (food or money), for Humboldt Light Opera Company, and/or for a post-performance libation fund. Mr. Floss has been a theatre artist on the Northcoast since the early 1980s, performing with the Sweet Georgia Brown Clowns, the Chamber Readers, the Pacific Art Center Theater, Shakespeare in the Park, Ferndale Repertory Theatre, Redwood Curtain Theatre, the North Coast Repertory Theatre and other venues. He is currently a lecturer in the Communication Department of Humboldt State University. The show will be a Readers Theater style performance of Mr. Floss' favorite poems and short stories including an abbreviated and annotated version of his January 2000 show, The Traveller. When asked why he was doing this show for his niece he said, "It's a show for my niece!" but added, "and anyone else who wants some fun after the Kinetic Sculpture Race." Contact the performer at jfloss@jfloss.com for further information.
