Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Loleta Christmas Bird Count

When: Sun., Jan. 4, 6 a.m.-7:30 p.m. 2015

Redwood Region Audubon Society is sponsoring a Christmas Bird Count centered in the Loleta area. This count is part of the 115th Christmas Bird Count that involves over 50,000 observers worldwide. It will include 13 sectors from Centerville Beach to King Salmon (see website). Anyone can participate by: 1. giving counters access to their property, 2. listing birds seen in their yard or feeder, or 3. joining a team to cover a territory (new birders will be paired with veterans). All participants must contact Gary Lester for further info. The final bird list will be compiled at the Village Pantry.
