Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

North Group Sierra Club Hike

When: Sat., Aug. 13, 10 a.m. 2016

The North Group Sierra Club invites the public to a hike in Humboldt Redwoods State Park's Drury-Chaney Loop Trail on Saturday, August 13. Carpools meet at 10:00 a.m.at the Elk River Road/Herrick Park & Ride lot, off of Highway 101 south. This is a great beginner's hike that is 2.3 miles long on a lovely loop off of the Avenue of the Giants. The trail twists through ancient redwood groves and California laurel trees (aka Pepperwood.) Come learn why a redwood grove was named after a man named Chaney. Bring water, lunch and good walking shoes. No dogs. For more info, contact leader Allison at (707) 268-8767 or [email protected].
