Explore the historical implications of tideland reclamation and the future of the Eureka Slough landscape with sea-level rise and subsidence on Humboldt Bay with Aldaron Laird. Aldaron is the adaptation planner for the Humboldt Bay Sea-Level Rise Adaptation Planning project. Aldaron recently completed a shoreline inventory, mapping, and sea-level rise vulnerability assessment project. Potential inundation maps of the Eureka Slough landscape will be presented and a discussion on what is at risk and what adaptation options may be feasible followed by a walk along Freshwater Slough to observe a high tide of over 8 feet.
