I am appalled to find myself writing letters to my legislators and to the president of our country to remind them that it is inhumane to separate children from family members and cage them in windowless warehouses without beds, blankets, soap, bathing facilities or toothbrushes ("How We Let This Happen," June 27).
It is fundamentally un-American to treat any people this way. That children are being so abused by our government, supposedly on our behalf, breaks my heart.
If you are a person who is appalled by these actions, I urge you to speak up now.
