Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

The workshops are connected with the PBS documentary series “Muhammad Ali” by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, and David McMahon that aired in September. Workshops are held online Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Register at KEET.org/ali and indicate which workshop(s) you would like to attend. 10/7-Poet Billy Tuggle of Chicago will lead a workshop focusing on the many messages of Ali and his quote, "The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up." 10/14-Poet Susanna Gibson will focus on how inspiring Ali has become and the legacy he has left using the quote, "The service you do for others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth." 10/21 -Eureka Poet Laureate Wil Gibson will focus on heroes, hypocrisy, and contradictions - Ali was an advocate for peace who gained fame as a fighter. This workshop will use the quote, "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up." 10/28 -Eureka Poet Laureate Wil Gibson will focus on Ali's myth and mystique and his quote, "To be a great champion, you must believe you are the best. If you're not, pretend you are."
