The Belle of Amherst is a play about Emily Dickinson, by William Lace. In this one woman tour de force, Emily shares tea and stories with her guests, the audience. The famous recluse is portrayed by playwright as a vibrant, creative soul who chooses her family and poetry over societal involvement. It has been called “a love affair with language”. Portraying Dickinson is Humboldt’s own veteran actress and director, Toodie Boll, who first performed the play forty years ago, and is now touring a third and final time.
