The Will of Roots

by

comment

We are many roots that grow deep

Deep as close

Binding us together

Forming a shelter

From the falling rain

The sunlight comes

Nourishing the soil

Feeding our leafy limbs

Limbs that look toward

The sky, the warming shine,

We feel the sound, the grind

Upon the ground

'Round our feet

Warm and neat

A buzz of bees

That buzz that comes to keep us

Connected

Company, selected,

We are fertilized, pollinated,

Procreated hives of harmony

Humming, coming forward

With stems and bracts intact

We live well, our fertile lives

Imagined more than

Those singular roots sleeping

In the dark -- tubers tucked

Within the dank blankets

Of moss and rot

The Summer sunshine --

Light will out

Will it not?
