Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Trinidad Lighthouse Stewardship Work Day

When: Sat., Oct. 30, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. 2021

Join volunteers for a special collaborative stewardship work day at the Trinidad Lighthouse on Saturday, October 30th! The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust will be partnering with the Bureau of Land Management to put some tender loving care into this beautiful piece of the California Coastal National Monument. We need volunteer power for paint removal inside the Lighthouse in preparation for a fresh paint job, minor repairs in and around the Lighthouse, invasive plant species removal, and native plant planting! We'll be working from 9:30-Noon, with snacks provided! Please come prepared wearing closed toed shoes, a long sleeve shirt to protect against poison oak, warm layers, and a water bottle. This work day is in preparation for the 150th Anniversary Celebration of the Trinidad Lighthouse! On December 4th, 2021, the California Coastal National Monument Gateway partners will be opening the lighthouse in celebration of 150 years of this important aid to navigation to mariners. The Trinidad Head Lighthouse was first lit on December 1, 1871 and still aids ocean faring vessels in navigating unseen hazards. Email michelle@trinidadcoastallandtrust.org to sign up or with any questions.
