Trinity Alps Chamber Players

When: Thu., Jan. 11, 7 p.m. 2018

The Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival continues its annual exploration of Beethoven's late string quartets, with a performance of his String Quartet Op. 130, a work that is both monumental in its scope and highly personal in its expression. The performers will include violinists James Keene and Ellen McGehee, violist Stephen Fine and cellist James Jaffe. The ensemble will also be joined by pianist Ian Scarfe (founder and director of this organization) and clarinetist Karla Avila for a performance of one of Beethoven's early and light-hearted works, the Piano Trio in B-flat, Op. 11. This promises to be a moving and enlightening look at Beethoven's chamber music, as the musicians will share the context of Beethoven's life and specific details within the work that audiences can listen for.
