Great appreciation to Mike Kelly and family for the amazing photos of "creatures of the shallows" (Aug. 16). And no less for the reminder that these beautiful species are literally at our feet along our coast, with tips on how to spot them.

While acknowledging the deep thanks I often feel for NCJ's news reporting, Kelly's feature is an unexpected and remarkable gift calling for my public response.
