Editor:

I would like to revisit the Media Maven's criticism of the Times-Standard a few weeks ago (April 2). Simply put, the Maven was spot on. The out-of-town-owned Times-Standard has a weak to non-existent role in our community. The editorial voice is non-existent, rarely rising above the "Toasts and Roasts" section, which is the journalistic equivalent of a bumper sticker.

The last real editorial was written by David Little. He sunk his teeth into the job, and tackled issues with the zeal the job requires.

Should this paper go out of business, it would be the same great opportunity that the Bayshore Mall going out would present. A chance to replace distant corporate ownership with true local ownership, and, hopefully, a much more relevant, local-flavored enterprise.
